The Farm House - Old and New Photos

Went by the farm when I was up at Jane's funeral, and took some photos. I am posting one that I took of Grandmother's and Grand Daddy's house. The railing on the roof is gone (replaced by a dish antenna), and the maples in the front yard are gone. Looks sad to me with what I remember of it. I found out from Mother when we were talking that the big living room had been two rooms, and that Grand Daddy had combined it after they moved there. He also had Mr. Baker add the large stone fireplace.

Betsy and I got to talking about old "old times" and I mentioned the glass plates from the attic. So when I got home I scanned some, since I can now do that. Here is the one of the house after it was first build. The wood is still in the yard, a ladder is on the house, and it has not been painted. Also it looks like one of the maple trees has just been planted.

Memorial Day at the Blaine Jessee Home

Don' stop me now, I'm on a roll with the blog posts. Judy wanted to get the grill out and have everyone over for the holiday. So of course I HAD to go along. Turned out very nice. Mother, Elizabeth, and Meghan came over together, Marshall and Diane came and Judy's family came. We had noodles and pork (cooked on the grill), grilled chicken and grilled corn on the cob. The "children" including Meghan, Tram, Andy and Marshall had some hamburger on the grill. The children were sufficiently loud until Meghan left to go with her Dad, and then the other two settled down since they didn't have a "wall" to bounce off of.

Memorial Day in Family Photos

In honor of Memorial Day a not so often seen photo of Dad in uniform getting his picture taken at the USO.

Also a photo of Uncle Eddie in his Marine uniform.(Yes, I know I should go on my program and fix the spots on his face, but I don't have the time right now.)

Then just to show that I was in the Army, a photo of me and Judy taken way back in January of 1969.

A Postcard from London

Up Date from North Carolina

We got back from Virginia just fine. Were glad we went even though we missed our party in Tallahassee. I almost fell asleep at the wheel though, and Laura had to smack me and take over (she's been doing that a lot lately... I wonder....uh, no).

I have been wearing the ResMed mask that is supposed to take care of my apnea, but it is not working. The Respiratory Therapist claims this has never happened with his clients before. If they can force themselves to wear a mask, they immediately notice a life changing difference. I have little trouble wearing the mask, and I seem to be using it properly, it just doesn't make any difference as far as I can tell. Supposedly the change is not subtle - I should have noticed it right away.

So I am not sure where I go from here. I'll keep you posted.

I had a colonoscopy Wed - had to fast for a day and drink two little bottles of laxative but otherwise it was fine. Laura is going in on Monday for hers with a different doctor. She has to fast for a day and a half and has to swallow what looks like a liter or so of a chalky liquid. Since she gets homicidal when she is hungry I may go up to Boone on Sunday and stay there until I need to drive her to the doctor's.

Our friend Maggie is in Disney World starting tomorrow. Wish there was someway for you all to meet her but don't see how. She should meet Tram and Andy too since she is going to get a little brother from Viet Nam soon.

Blaine, we both enjoy the pictures - post some more!

More Photos from Virginia

Due to the overwhelming response to my last post for more photos (Will Scott at least asked if I had more),I will put some more up for every ones enjoyment. Do not worry even more will be posted when I can get to it.

Scott, Sheldon and Mother at the cemetery in Hillsboro.

Jane's house with dogwood and azalea.

The baptismal font from St. Paul's in Hamilton at St. Peter's in Purcellvile

The old barn on the farm. Scott, maybe you can tell everyone about the opening in the floor in this photo. Or does your head start aching and your scar start throbbing when you see it. Seems to me that Mother said that when she got to you your biggest concern was the manure that you landed in.

The banister in our old house. (I went up to the top of the stairs and I'm not sure how I ever had the nerve to slide down it backward like I used to. I must have been a lot smaller then, or just stupid.

Aunt Jane's Funeral

Just got back in today and am trying to get settled in after 4 days in Virginia. Do want to update with a few photos of the funeral. I will try to post some other from Virginia later, but do want to get some up now.
