Meghan had a big volleyball tournament in Atlanta this past weekend. They played Friday, Saturday and Sunday (3-games each day). It was hugh! Imagine about 130+ courts, 4 teams per court, about 10 players per team, usually 2-coaches per team, and at least 1 (maybe average of 2+) family members per player. We stayed in downtown Atlanta & walked each day to the World Congress Center (about a mile 1 way). Meghan's team had a rough start but they finished strong qne won the last 4 matches. It was a stressful weekend. Sunday was single elmination. They played at 10:00 and won so they played at 1:00 and won and then had to play at 2:00 (which by then everything was running 30-minutes behind). So we won & finished about 3:30, ran back to the hotel to pick up our luggage, got a taxi van with 2 other girls/mothers, and got to the airport in time to check a bag, get thru security AND have a nice relaxing meal & an adult beverage (for the mom's) in time to catch our 5:49 flight home.
I have learned a couple lessons: 1) pack lighter and don't check my bag (this will be hard); 2) go with the flow and don't get stressed (this will be harder).
Meghan is a great volleyball player and a wonderful girl. Yes....I'm saying that as her mother so I'm biased. I was very proud of her this weekend, not only for the way she played but for the way she handled the whole weekend.
