Olustee from Civilian Camp

This is my cousin, Adrian, and I on Sutlers Row.
Her baby is not due until April, so I am
sure the little girl is going to be an Amazon by then.

My tent is just to the left in the photo.
Yes, these folks are setting up in the RAIN.
It rain is so light it can't hardly be seen,
but if you look close you can see the ground is all wet.
They are trying to get a fire started with WET
wood.

"Home Sweet Home" for me.
Notice the suspicious box out front?
It houses the gas tank for my heater.

My dressing table.

This is my bedside table with Valentine roses.

This is my brass bed. Under the bed coverings
is an air mattress and a heavy-duty sleeping bag.

leave for the battle.

Here is some of the items for sale on Sutlers Row.
One can do some SERIOUS shopping.

Morning Military Colors on Sunday -
James Permane (US) and Thomas.
Saturday was TOO COLD for me, so
I stayed in my nice gas-heated warm tent!

This is Friday and it rained ALL DAY!
It was a light constant rain and the roads into
the Park became MUD WALLOWS.
DOT to the rescue as they came in & graded the
ruts & added new fill.

This was the Ladies Tea on Saturday.
Yes it was cold under the tent.
This is also where they hold the Military Ball - open air -
and in the 30s! Once you get to dancing it isn't too bad
or so they TELL me. I stayed 'you know where'.

This called a 'Shebang' & 3 soldiers slept in it even when it
was 27 degrees at night

Battle of Olustee

Thomas and I are leaving tomorrow morning for Lake City to camp for 4 days and whip the Yankees AGAIN at the Battle of Ocean Pond!

I will have my cell phone (863) 529-9786, so in case anyone needs to contact us. Hopefully the weather is going to be clear.

I will post pictures upon our return.

Coming to Tampa

Laura and I will be coming to Tampa on 6 Feb. We will stay for the week. We will probably want to stay some with Mother, especially if she still needs someone there. I suppose she can be talked into this. When I spoke with her Sunday she sounded much more like her old self. I was a bit surprised when someone with an odd accent answered the phone, but it was the lady staying with Mother. They were watching the Superbowl together and Mother had just told her I would be calling.

So we will see everyone in a few weeks. We will bring Leo, of course.

My New Eyes

Or at least that is what they feel like. A month ago I had cataract surgery for my left eye which went well. Had the final checkup last week. I no longer need glasses to drive which is a delight. I can actually see everything, and it does feel like everything, without glasses. I need reading glasses for reading, but since I can get three of them for $7 at Wal-Mart I am leaving glasses all over the house, one in the car, one for my book bag, and one or two for my office. It feels like I can read at least twice as fast as I could before. No wonder work was taking me so long: most of it is reading.

So another satisfied customer for Dr Adkins.
